iPhone 5 compatability

Featured Replies

I've just collected my 2010 Octavia vRS and tried to connect my iPhone 5 to the Bluetooth. It has a Bolero unit and said the phone is not compatable. Does this need a firmware upgrade? Or can I not use the phone in the car. Apart from that it is a great car and look forward to driving it.

Don't know but the iPhone 5 workes perfectly with my 2010 Scenic and with my wife's brand new Citigo.

Might be a silly question but are you sure that you have a Bluetooth module fitted in your new car ? Bolero on its own does not have Bluetooth for connecting phones

It searches for phones and sees my iPhone but when I connect it says phone not compatible. It is a 2010  CR vRS DSG and has the multi function steering wheel. When I select phone it looks for a Blackberry 6900 to connect which I guess was the previous owner's.

I had all sorts of problems with mine!! First go in and delete any other named tags for any previous phones then start again and it should work, this worked for mine. :)

I looked in the manual and couldn't find how to delete phones. Will I have to go into the dealer and get them to do it. Tried doing a reset to factory settings but this didn't help. Although my iPhone couldn't find the car the car found the phone.

I found a guide on how to delete phone pairings. I seem to be missing some lines in the menu. I will try to pair with my wife's Samsung android phone and see if that works. I'm using iOS 6.1.4

Ok, if its a 2010 Octavia VRS most likely its a GSM III phone module the car was fitted with so it wont work with phones that don't support RSAP like the IPHONE and a lot of Android phones, IIRC they started fitting an updated module later on in 2010.

Your solutions are either to get the module swapped for one that works with non RSAP phones or use a phone that supports RSAP (very limited choice), Jailbreak your iphone and install an RSAP App

As above it will be the rotten factory fit Bluetooth unit. Swap for a fiscon basic plus. DIYable, it's just unplugging a wee box and plugging in a different one. No rewiring or anything difficult.

my 2010 VRS octy works faultlessly with the iphone 5 - make sure you try it with the old pairing deleted first.

my iphone 5 works both in my golf mk5 with rns510 with premium kit fitted also in my mk2 octavia with rns315 fitted...try updating the firmware on the head unit.

It is a March 2010 registration so may be the older unit. I looked in the phone menu but couldn't find anywhere to delete previous pairings. It just gives me the choice of scan devices or connect. This then looks for a Blackberry 6900. I will check with my local dealer about either the firmware or getting a new bluetooth unit fitted.

According to the manual, the car BT unit is only visible for something like 3 minutes after the ignition is turned on

Is rSAP the only protocol available from the module? You want A2DP really. Can you switch to that? Don't ask me how!

The early module only supports RSAP , swapping for either the later one or a fiscon unit is your only option really

Agreed. Swap the module!

I'm having the same problem with my 09(October) with an iPhone 4s. Does anyone know what model module works for iPhones?

Do you have a maxi dot or not? That has some bearing on available options. Also since you'll have the early Bolero you may have problems syncing the phone book but that may not be a big deal since you still have access to call lists. If you have a maxi dot then you could get the premium kit which, as far as I can tell, will be all good. I'm not the expert here though. Just do a search on this forum for bluetooth!
