VW Quantum Longlife III 5W-30

Featured Replies

I've just switched oil brands for the first time in 6 years. So I thought I'd share the excitement with you geezers!

I've always religiously used Castrol Edge 5W-30, but it's just too damn expensive now. £47 for a 4 litre bottle plus £20 for a 1 litre bottle at Halfords, so potentially £67 for an oil change. Obviously you could slap on your trade discount, but it'll still be well over £50.

Anyway. Changed to VW Quantum Longlife III 5W-30 from the Skoda garage. Identical specs and the bottle is the same colour too.... £41.50 for 5 litres (I got a pathetic 10% discount so others may get it cheaper).

The two oils are rumoured to be identical too, which wouldn't surprise me.

End of oil based excitement. I'll go back to sleep now.

Have you not got a tps near?

I get a 20l drum when they on offer. Last one I got was £55 ish for the 5w40 but the 5w30 was only something like £67 iirc

I will tyr pop down again this next week see when they having another sale as I need some more. Down to my last 20l pays to have it stocked up

Oil was on special offer at my local TPS a couple of weeks back and I got 5 litres of Longlife III, an oil filter and sump plug for £26.

You need to find a TPS and to get out more

Thanks for rubbing it in guys! Sounds like I need to get on to TPS Coventry then.

I used TPS when I was up in Yorkshire, but that was a while ago.

£26 for everything? Epic bargain.

I get all my MANN filters free which is nice though....

Free? Send some my way :)

TPS Coventry? Crikey! Where in Oxfordshire are you?

TPS Oxford quite happily deliver out here to Carterton.

I think Bodge is in Banbury in which case Coventry is probably closer than Oxford, and probably easier to get too.

Ahhhh, that figures. Probably about slap bang in the middle of both.

Yeah for some strange reason Banbury is served by Coventry TPS. Looks odd on their map, as there are places further North of Banbury that are served by the Oxford branch! I guess it's a capacity thing.
