Is it possible to get a factory windscreen type sun strip?

Featured Replies

I had a new windscreen fitted the other day and its exactly the same as the original factory fitted one apart from the sun strip at the top, I am thinking about calling up a few tinting places in the morning to see what they can do for me

Do you think it's possible to get one that is pretty much the same??

Anyone know how much % it is tinted, the length of it or anything like that??

I don't want a chav one like you see on some cars, they sell those on Halfords and even Asda lol, the factory fitted one was perfect.

Is it like a blue tint one?

Mine is factory tinted. I'll get some pictures tomorrow.

Why didn't the glass company fit a top tinted screen?

They said it would take up to 2 weeks and would have to be ordered directly from Skoda, the one they replaced is basically the same apart from the top bit, it still has the black outline around the edges and the bottom like the factory fitted one.

Yes mate, it's not too dark so doesn't restrict your view at all and looks a lot darker from the outside

Thanks but I don't really need any pictures, if you could measure the length of it then that would be great

Don't want one half way down my windscreen lol

Then fold your sunvisor down and use the bottoms of that as a guide to your sun strip.

Mines pretty much like that I think. I wouldn't say it's very blue tho just a very light tint, 20% maybe.

I would have replaced it with a heated one :)

I would have replaced it with a heated one :)

Is there a fabia heated windscreen?

I would be interested in that!

Nope

I had the same when I got a new windscreen fitted last year. They would not be able to get hold of a factory sunstrip windscreen for a week or two. They did have one with a 1980's style green sunstrip which I went for.

It looks ok on my car as it is cappuccino beige colour, but would look rubbish on nearly any other colour car I could think of.

If I remember correctly, the factory suntint on my elegance was a grey tint.....possibly graduated, but I can't remember.

Spoke to the place that did the tints on my previous. car earlier today and he's had to order some film in but he will be able to do a very good match to the factory tint, happy days.

If you want a strip you can see through without the CHAV sunstrip look I used along with a few others on scooby forums window tint pretty much exactly what your talking about wanting but removable if and when selling if you want back standard

Just a thought :)

The guy I called said its basically the same as dark smoked window tint, he's ordered in some film as he's ran out, so just waiting for that

It will look black from the outside but it won't restrict any vision from the inside, traffic lights, etc can also be seen without any issues.

I know you can also get those blue ones that are not visible at all from the outside (seen a lot on older BMW's) but they won't look good on a Fabia, especially on a silver one

The bottom of the windscreen on the Fabia where the wipers rest is black and there's a black outline along the sides so the sun strip won't be noticeable.
