VCDS help with SAI please.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had a CEL come on yesterday, so decided to do a scan with my new VCDS, it would appear that my old fault with the SAI has returned. Before I waste time checking things that may not need to be checked, does the readiness code 0000 0001 give any guidance to what area of the system has failed, or is it get busy with the multimeter and testlamp time again?.

I post a copy scan for the bright bods to peruse, as I am so new with VCDS, that I am still feeling my way about to know what the readiness codes translate to. Have deleted vin for now, but will post if it is necessary.

Many thanks in advance.

Phil.

Take it you haven't modified the SAI in any way

Not sure about readiness giving you add. Info but the actual error seems to indicate not enough flow has been detected. Could be a leak in the plastic tubing.

Under the inlet manifold, going to the airbox about half way there is a connection which came loose due to vibration

Same error if the pump was leaking, if you see my point

Is the connection accessible from above by removing dipstick engine cover, or is it an underneath job?. Thanks for the replies by the way.

I think I had to remove the perforated cover that sit on top of manifold and dipstick.

I thought the sai connects to your airbox so you should find a plastic, ringed tube connecting at bottom of airbox and going across to the block then to the inlet manifold and turn to follow the manifold in its length and down into the pump

Any luck?

So far, I have run a n output test on the system, which ran the sai relay, but I could not hear the pump itself run. Got bad back pain at moment, so will ask my son to check the pipe at the weekend. Thanks very much for the help, it is very appreciated.
