I am looking into changing the gearbox fluid on my 5 speed manual transmission on a 2001 Octavia SDI.

 

Can anyone confirm whether the procedure found in the below guide is the same for my model?

Hi buddy yep.

 

identical for the 5 speed box.

Use genuine stuff else you will knacker box aswell

IIRC, the SDI has an 02K gearbox, so the filler plug is on the end of the gearbox - not the side. The plugs are the same but the torque on the 02K is 25Nm.

Thank you all for your swift replies.  I'll be using the genuine fluid too, picked it up today.

 

I was concerned I may have to fill it under pressure as opposed to the method as described within Bowders1 article.
