A couple of days ago the cap of the gearstick (the bit with the gear numbers on) came off in my palm as I lifted my hand up from a gear change.

 

It wasn't loose before, it certainly gave no signs of being loose.

 

What is the best way to stick it back down? Is it OK to just use glue? If so what types?

Isn't it still under warranty?

Yes it is, just wasn't sure if this was a warranty issue.

 

I'm not saying I won't take it in under warranty but it would cost me more in fuel than some glue, is all.

It is a warranty issue, happened on my Monte Carlo. A clip was broken.
