standard vrs handling?

Featured Replies

Hi guys..ive had my vrs over a year now and almost since day one ive had coilovers fitted (joms). Im considering putting the stock setup back on and upgrading the console bushes and dog engine mount with powerflex bushes.

I drive to work at half 4 in the morning and coilovers are becoming a tad tedious :s

So my question is is the stock setup a terrible ride (roly poly) as i csnt remember and when pushing it just how well does it handle? And will the poly bushes make the stock setup much firmer/sharper?

Cheers guys :)

It's not bad, really quite OK. Needs rear arb to get correct balance though

The stock on my car is quite a good ride, I don't like anything low and crashy anymore for the same sorts of reasons (been there, done that).  Yes, it is a bit roly poly but where I've fitted upgraded bushes on cars before it's always tightened up the feel.

Looking to do similar on this as/when required so I'll be starting with front ARB bushes and very probably a rear ARB.

Ride/comfort isn't bad, TBH it's the best you'll get. Mine suffered in corners with power transitions. i.e. Trailing throttle until you can see, then hit the accelerator... Had a few WTF and arse clamping seat moments as the rear suspension seemed lost. It seemed to get stuck "high", then lurch downwards suddenly. Hence, I've had Eibachs/Eibach shocks (Sachs) and a Jabba RARB on since 20-30K. Have to say it's probably the RARB doing the best job of making the rear end work properly.

Other thing about standard suspension is rolling forward/rotation under braking. A RARB won't help with that.

Best advice is probably find a member/mate near who's got a standard car and ask for comparison.

Best option ;)
