Pioneer AVH-8500BT ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I'm thinking of upgrading the CD player in my mk1 vrs.I don't know much about modern in car electronics these days. I have a iPhone5 which I would like to connect up to play my iTunes and also get hands free calls through the H/U! The listed head unit seems like a really good one judging by all the features it has and I know it will be good enough when I eventually upgrade the factory speakers. Is it really worth getting one like this,or should I get one a bit cheaper which will probably still have 85-90% of the features that this one has? Also does anyone have one of these or one similar and what do you think of it?

Thanks

Mark

Can't speak specifically about that stereo but I have an older single DIN pioneer stereo that I use for iPod playback as well as hands free phone and streaming music from my phone, I think its a great bit of kit.

As for the question about if you should get that stereo or a cheaper one, it all depends on what you want it for, if it's purely for playing music and hands free I'd say look at a cheaper model, but if you'll be using the DVD function and possibly enabling the sat-nav then go for it.

Then you also think about the looks, the AVH-8500 is a much better looking unit than mine.

I have one its a very good unit and fits quite well into a mk1 fabia. It's easy to use. I gave about 330 for a factory second all that was up with it was a pair of scuffs either side of the cd hole. For an iPhone 5 you will have to see if they do a lead with the lightening connector to make the use of wired connection( better payback than Bluetooth)
