Black smoke..engine management light..

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm a mechanical thicko, so help please.

Mine's a vRS, bought new Sept '04

Yesterday: 30k service by supplying dealer. Note on invoice "Advise slight oil leakage from pipe connections from intercooler to turbo"

Today: Dual carriageway, national speed limit - no honestly, I'm a driving instructor! - Slight thud, lack of power and black smoke. Few miles later engine management light comes on. Limped home and parked up outside.

Tomorrow: Probably leave it at supplying dealer with keys through the letter box.

What might it be? and any advice greatly received!

Larry

Sounds like the lower intercooler pipe has come off, pretty common.

The oil is normal, its the lowest point in the system and it collects there.

The pipe from the intercooler to the inlet manifold also blow off, there is now a modified part available :)

Happened to SWMBO's - Big bang. lots of smoke and no power, it was less than 24hrs old as well!! Bugger limping home called the AA :P .

There is also an issue with you taking it to the dealers as I found out with my oil leak. You aren't entitled to a loan car and if they do give you may have to pay. Call the AA and you get a Hire car for free.

I know that applies to the Octavia but to the Fabia too?

It ought to, isnt it the same engine? (that said I suppose there is more room under the bonnet in the Octi, so it may be missing some wierd-angled thingy)

* Should ask Jason as he's probably fitted every part at least a few times by now :D :D
