Got a feeling you would need to cut too much out,and being as the cover only has three mounts I fear it will go floppy/out of shape.

Hmmm what about some fibreglass and hardner painted under the cover ? Strengthen it back up

Excellent news. Have to get round to ordering the pipework and bits for fitting, especially as have found a big split in the lower breather pipe :(.
