Hi there,

Does any one have any steel wheels 6j 14 et 43, to fit my fabia comfort. I would like to put winter tyres on this year, and all the scrap yards seem to be wanting a fortune, and trying to sell me tyres as part of the deal, which i do not want.

If any one can suggest where i might look, i'm in Norfolk.

Must be your local scrap yards that are like that. Maybe the demand is great and some pay them the money they are asking from you.

 

Other places might be like the majority of scrap yards, charging £10-£15 a steel wheel from a matching set of 4 or 5,

The tyres on will be for the scrap heap or already removed.

 

Maybe just look at Gumtree or Ebay for suitable wheels or wheels with Winter tyres already on and near enough to view and collect.

Or anything here in the Classifieds, or post a Wanted Ad on here or locally even on a Super Market Free Ads Board.

 

Ask down the local tyre fitting centres if anyone knows of any steels and winter tyres being sold that might suit you car.

They might have some sitting out the back,

They might have Take Off Tyres they can sell and a friendly Scrappy they will send you to to find/buy wheels.

Worth a try.

Ahh, you might find that some Scrap Yard staff can be more than helpful when there is a female turns up asking for assistance.

Pick out the stuff, load your car etc.

Do not phone around, if you can call in , in person.

 

Sorry if that sounds sexist, but a few years of experience, andit is why i would ask my other half to go to a place i do not know to ask for something rather than me going in first.

Saves me getting my hands dirty.

Not always the most pleased staff when they come out to load in the car and i am sitting waiting to open the boot.

(Golden Rule, re Scrap yards, they always quote a cheaper price when they do not have something & waiting on some, than when there is the part you want.)

 

You might find the same at some tyre fitting places, personal call in to enquire not over the phone,

especially when looking for used tyres etc.

Not something they are going to just talk about over the phone without any idea who is on the phone.

My sisters used to go to scrap yards and get things for nothing! You may do better going there in person!

You might find it easier to find some wheels from a mk4 golf or a mk1 a3, as they'll fit your fabia.

Whereabouts in Norfolk are you? There's plenty of Vw breakers around here, plus the dub generation forum is always a good place to find stuff like wheels.
