Glow Plug System warning light

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I hope someone can help. I have a Mk2 Fabia Greenline and the Glow Plug System Warning light is flashing while driving.

Does anyone know what could cause this? The book says to take it to a specialist asap but I would like to know what the problem might be?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Firstly, check that your brake lights still work. I don't know that this is the case on the Furbie 2, but on anything earlier the glowplug light flashing was the signal of a broken brake light switch.

I had this on my 1.6 TDI CR. First time it disappeared after a turning engine off. Next time it went into limp mode and needed EGR valve replacing. Done under warranty.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's not the break lights, they still good. Started car today but didn't drive it, light didn't come on again. Will keep an eye on it. Good to know EGR was done under warranty. Cheers :)

I hope that your repair is straightforward.

I have had a 1.6 CR90 TDI (since December 2011) which has been plagued with this problem since new!!!

Car is at present at my local Skoda Dealer, for yet more diagnosis and attempted sort out in liason with the Skoda technical team.

Virtually every component has been changed, yet the problem continues!

Good Luck

Let forum members know the outcome and what was done to overcome your problem.

Colleague with a Greenline 2 had a similar problem and turned out to be a wiring loom problem where it was rubbing in engine bay.

Had a call from dealer this morning - they are going to change the wiring loom under the bonnet!!

Little update, since Monday the warning light has not come on again, gremlins? ;)

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it...

IIRC - CHECK THE HANDBOOK - this means it's an Engine Management problem, report straight to dealer, do not pass go.

I got it once and turned it on and off and it went, but others have reported failures, as above.
