1.6CR TDi fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Just came back from a few days in the Mosel Valley and had a great time. There has much criticism and coment about the 1.6CR TDi fuel consumption. Well the answer is hot weather and billiard table smooth roads and sustained periods of steady driving at around 50mph! During our holiday I was easily achieving 70+ mpg and at one time got 84mpg on one warm evening!

However when on the Autobahns the comsumption decreased to a more normal 60mpg.

I concur. Warm days do seem to make a big difference to the 1.6TDI CR mpg. Last wednesday & Thursday I did 400 miles. 310 of this was 70mph motorway. I achieved 63mpg. I wonder if milage makes any difference. I have done 25k.

Yep the temp plays a big part I've noticed the mpg is dropping as the autumn temp kick in

autumn temp or that pesky winter diesel / lights on more, heaters, etc?

Ha ha - positive comments about the 1.6 tdi? Thanks for posting. I love the Mosel Valley - did it last year - and we did the Rhine this year - wonderful! For reference: my 1.2tsi dsg did about 44mpg according to maxidot and I was well-pleased - mix of 80mph autobahn, stop-start, towns and gentle sightseeing.
