AUDI 2.7 BI TURBO IN 4X4 OCTAVIA ESTATE

Featured Replies

GUYS i have been offerd a engine as above does anyone have any idea wether i could squeeze this into the octavia and what problems does anyone foresee. i think itll be a great project lol

Seen it done in a Passat comfortably (same chassis as Audi A4)

Octavia would be a bit more of an engineering challenge.....

Been done in a Golf

Here's the how-to: 034Motorsport GTI-RS - enjoy  ;)

thanks guys but the golf has it in the rear thats not gonna work i want it to look as close to factory as poss

how different are the b5 and octavia platform?

lastly would a r32 golf conversion be more practical?( With a big turbo obviously)

Yeah Mk4 R32 engine would be much easier because it should fit straight in. Would need a turbo though!

Look up the Seat Leon Cupra 4. 2.8 VR6 engined Mk1 Leon with 4wd.

I want one....

Well the main difference is b5 has longitudinal engines and octavia is transverse mounted

was going to say, having owned both those cars, thats the fundamental difference Gaz911 and will prove a big challenge trying to adapt to fit the octy, plus it will be really front end heavy..not sure its worth it tbh tho i agree with bossfix....its your duty now you suggested it!!!

ok so looking at what i have so far the 2.7 is the wrong way around and will cause major headache although be emence project.

R32 easier swap but heavy so will mash handling and not much quicker than the 1.8

easy option go for a turbo swap and keep the 1.8t?

If you're happy < 300 bhp go hybrid turbo

> 300 bhp TFSI conversion probably best bet

A V6 turbo conversion project would be fun, using ebay kit

BAH! Want!

Or at least, I would want it if it had a decent sized boot I could get my guitar rig in... :(

THANKS ALL

The 3.2 v6 does look very good in the seat very tempting to go this route?

does any one have a doner v6 engine or larger turbo for the 1.8 under thier sink or hiding in the garage lol give you a fiver for it.

on a serious note the tfsi would be interesting too

just dont see the point of the 3.2 lump, they are mega expensive to get big power, you will need a turbo or supercharger to do this, and the car will still not handle as well as a car fitted with a 20vt.

far more sensible route is as snowmuncher says, the 20vt hybrid or big turbo route, or the tfsi route if you want to be unique!

thanks all really gives me something to think about

would the tfsi be compatable with the 4x4?

i feel a bigger turbo needs ordering

thanks again

Shark performance's mk1 octy had a 2.0 tfsi conversion (and is currently being torn apart and sold on iirc). Can't see the 4x4 aspect being a problem.

TFSI engines use the same mounting points, gearbox flanges etc as the 20v engines, and as the 16v engines before them

Custom pipework (intake/intercooler/exhaust) and ECU work and the main hurdles

I thought the VR6 was not far off the 20vt weight wise?  the 2.7 Bi is an epic engine though would be difficult to fit.  the engine of choice for my 4x4 would be the TTRS 5 cylinder :D

Never seen the weight of the engines themselves

A significant proportion of the R32's weight increase (vs Octy 4x4) is down to the 6spd gearbox, which is much heavier than the 5 spd boxes

I guess I must have offset that weighty 6spd box with my 15" rims :D :D :D
