Octavia VRs - front speaker grille badges - 'sound system'

Well, all I can say with regard to the questions of whether it was an uprated or Laurent Clemet system in my car because it had the badges - err, I am fairly sure it didn't - it sounded crap at best!

The reason I had the door cards off anyway was because I was installing a proper system - Infinity speakers all round, decent head unit, MDF parcel shelf and a monsterous amp.

One thing I was pleased about was that there was plenty of room in the front doors to strap in my fairly large crossover units, and my new tweeters fitted nicely into the little trims at the top of the doors, once I had removed the original ones.

One bit of advice to anyone upgrading their head unit and fitting an amp - when you come to plug your RCA pre-outs into the back f your new head unit, you probably won't be able to slide the unit back into the dash.

There are plastic mounting re-inforcers at the back, in front of the dashboard air-vent ducts.

I had to visit Maplins and buy some 90-degree converters, and also get in there with a big pair of cutters and cut out some of he plastic mouldings, just to get the head unit to slide all the way home.

That's handy advice, as I might be upgrading the speakers and head unit in the vRS especially as the front right speaker has blown and I'm having to run it through the back speakers only.  Good God it's an awful sounding stereo!

the previous owner of my 54 plate vrs had upgraded front speakers to alpine with alpine tweeters and the rear are aftermarket aswell but cant remember the brand. however im convinced the headunit is letting it down so want a suitable replacement.
