how bad is the wait when getting a new car! I'm getting grief off the missus

Featured Replies

I only have to wait till Tuesday till I pick up my new ride but I can't do anything but read up on Octavia vrs estate! I need to know everything and I can't put my phone down. Lol. I was on autotrader yesterday looking for my other half a yaris, but very quickly got board and was back on Octavias which she spotted and I got grief over it. Wouldn't like to wait weeks and weeks to take delivery of a new car, I would go crazy!

I think I was 12 weeks when I ordered mine waaaay back in 2007. A very long 12 weeks in a ****ty Clio I hated

It would have to be a very special car for me to wait more than a couple of weeks.

Depends if you're buying from Ford. They give you a delivery date, you sell your car expecting your new one to be ready then you get to the dealers and its not there. They then BS you about the date before finally admitting they've put it back on a transporter and sent it to Leicester. It can be returned for a reasonable fee of £25. They then provide you with a shagged out Fiesta with an interior smelling like a wet dog whilst they get someone to drive it back. When you go for your second collection date you find its not the car you ordered and someone's broken one of the wing mirrors off.

The whole sorry saga lasts around two months or so before you tell them to ram it.

That doesn't sound too good what Ford was you getting?

5 month wait for my new Civic, partly down to needed to order early for my lease company but think Honda build time was pretty close to that anyway.  Only 2 weeks to go

It was a Fiesta but its going back a little while now. I've not purchased another brand new car since although it looks like a 14 plate Skoda may be on the cards.

Good luck with the purchase, its a pain waiting though! Have you sacrificed the Fabby for the Octy?

Excellent rant, MMC. Not a good advert for Ford, not that I'm ever likely to buy a new Ford, too many years of poor quality company cars to ever consider one again.
