Approved used car warranty abroad

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have bought an used Skoda Octavia in may from a local Skoda dealer in Mansfield.

The garage have paid for a yearly RAC and yearly approved car warranty.

In the terms of warranty it states, any Skoda retailer in the UK and Europe can service the car and claim money from Skoda UK.
While on holidays in Poland i have noticed a noisy aircon fan,

As i have experienced a fire from same fault in a friend's car, i went to a polish Skoda garage and they have checked the papers and accepted the warranty, and set me up for a service in two days.

I turned up for the appointment early in the morning, and another service person checked the warranty again then refused to service the car as it was not covered under the warranty or Skoda won't pay them for repairs.
Not the best experience, especially that it took me over two hours to drive there and back, i made complaint to Skoda Poland CS but did not receive any responce since.
I'm well fed up with the situation, especially that Skoda UK tells me, the car is covered Europe wide.
Any suggestions?

Witam..... I'm not sure if the warranty is tranferable if i am honest....then again i maybe wrong as things have changed over the years. Have you tried to contact Skoda UK with regards to this... Again I really dont know if this system works where you have UK warranty and goto to any European country and can get things done under warranty over there.

Thanks for the answer. In the warranty booklet, it is clearly written, any EEU Skoda outlet will service the car for free and claim money back from Skoda UK, if the fault is covered under warranty. Non-Skoda garages, you gotta pay in front and claim monies back yourself but no more than it would cost to repair at authorised retailer garage. Seems that the polish garage has no clue, thus the service was an utterly dissapointment for me.

It used to be (2009) that the first two years was free anywhere in Europe but if you were abroad during the third (UK specific) year of the warranty that you paid the Skoda garage yourself and then presented the bill to a UK Skoda garage within 28 days for a refund.

I brought a car from the UK to Ireland and this was an important issue for me to keep the third year.

How many miles are on this car?

IIRC...

< 72000 - 12 months

< 100000 - 6 months

>= 100000 - 3 months

I'm not sure that a 'noisy aircon fan' (without other symptoms) would automatically be covered. Are you talking about the blower or the radiator fan?

Could it not wait until you return to the UK?

It is just the blower i think, i will wait till i come back to the UK and sort it out through my garage. Thanks :)

The car has 42k on the clock and will be 4 years old in march, so its a full year warranty.
