CR 170 hesitation after map

Featured Replies

Hi peeps had the vrs 09 TDI mapped by a local guy who has a good name a few weeks back.

Since the map it has transformed the drivability of the car much more lively like the fabia.

Only issue I have got is a hesitation like a loss off turbo for a split second when giving it the beans, then power comes back to me for the remaining rev range.

1st and 2nd gear no problem

3rd gear does it at roughly 4thou rpm 4th 5th and 6th around 3.5 rpm but like said earlier power does return.

I did take it back and he adjusted the map which made it better but not got rid of it completely.

Went back tonight and he tested the n75 valve by a vac test.

Top nozzle on valve held vac, bottom nozzle was dropping pressure. So he has told me the fault lies here. I'm not totally convinced as car was faultless before map.

Is this the correct way to check these N75 valves before I go and fork out on a new one.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

I would replace the hose, then if its still doing it you can take the car back tell him to sort it and claim for the cost of the hose.

Sorry I meant the nozzles on the valve unit He tested. There are three in total and he tested the top and bottom.

Cheers

I had exact same when getting mine done was throttle remap issue in my case and was tweaked to sort it. Was highly annoying though. If no joy ask for it to be returned to stock (any reputable place will refund all or particularly if not satisfied) and go somewhere else IMO.

In fact either way ask for it to go back to stock to test for issue, only OBD II port job on yours would take minutes. If they have a problem with that, name and shame for if nothing poor customer service. I hear of lots of places having a good name directly from their customers merely because they feel an improvement after remap, but there is some difference between a remap and a good remap when you compare. Speak to any of the poor mapper victims that the likes of Shark Performance has saved.

Yeah I may ask for it to be put back to stock and go from there. I had my fabia remapped by him with no issues. I did research mapping before I plunged in with this car and know the pros and cons of the good v bad mappers.

I'd not have taken the car to him if I had and doubts on his mapping ability. Hopefully it is just the N75 valve which he says they can suffer with once mapped.

My eyes are wide open during this lol I may just get the valve, and if its the same then he can pay for the part and put the car back to stock.

P.s he was also recommended to me by one of the admin on here.

Thanks for Your input.

Anyone know how I can test this valve. No error logs on vcds and a test shows it working ok.

Cheers.

The ECU used in your CR170 is totally different to what you had in the Fabia, and a lot, lot more complicated.

I've seen a few cars with an issue that sounds like this, but only a dyno run (on a longish run to emulate the road) would confirm it.

Yeah I appreciate the ecu is more complicated than the fabia.

I'm thinking of asking it be put back to stock and pay shark a visit as really can't be assed with messing about changing parts.

Who's your closest retailer to pontypridd South

Wales.

Cheers andy

CN Tuning in Wokingham or BR Developments in Swindon are your nearest dealers.

Any idea if CN Tuning also have a dyno rolling road facility?

They don't currently, but we do at Shark HQ if that helps.

Thank you. Just lining up potential remap options for when the warranty expires on the Blackline!
