Mpg below average

Featured Replies

So I've been doing abit of research and the vrs should average 60+ mpg on a run, I do a fair amount of driving on the motor way and am struggling to get 50, let alone 60+ my service is due soon could this be effecting it? I haven't had it long so don't know what it was like before, I also have a slight boost leak could this cause it? Sorry if its been posted before (I'm sure it has)

I've never seen me Fabia achieve 60+ mpg in reality. The display in the dash says it does but in reality across across around 500 ish of mixed driving and mainly motorways it returned 54mpg genuine.

Maybe it's because you have a truthful display, failing that it could be a sensor - MAF sensor is quite temperamental.

My MPG has gone lower since i had a full service

I've never seen anywhere near 60 let alone 60+ best I got is mid 50s on average see 40s about 400miles to a tank (mpg off the display)

My best ever is 55mpg, average overall of 50-51mpg. All calculated with Fuelly using full tanks. I get 550-600 mile a tank using the expansion space. My dash tells me between 60 and 70mpg.

I only use the vrs for work, 30 mile trip on A roads each way.

Yes, if your car is due a service, this could affect the mpg.

A boost leak won't help either but depends how bad it is.

My average on display always sits at around 57 mpg. In reality though its always around 10mpg less.

Mine has averaged 46.30mpg over 54000 miles. I have seen an average of 80mpg on Trip 1 for a long drive on the A1 at 60mph - but the brim to brim figure for that journey was 60mpg.

Maybe worth checking your tyre pressures too. Makes a huge difference.

My average, using fuelly, is 48.2 mpg over 24172 miles (done 50000 since i got it but always forget to log it haha). My best recorded is 53.4 mpg. Its only in the last year I have started doing long motorway journeys for work tho, 60 miles each way, used to only be 10 miles each way. I have seen an increase in my mpg since i have been doing this.

Over the past 6months owning mine i average 58 to 62 mpg and thats calculated not by the trip computer. I do 72 miles a day and 64 of them are motorway miles doing 65 to 70mph. I only started to see good mpg when i done the elaphant mod and egr delete and descent tyres

If i set the cruise control at 65 on a long run it will return 64mpg every time I drive down to Sheffield from my home (100 miles) , that's going by the dash readout not calculated but I don't see the point in calculating r as it will just depress me how wrong the dash read out is so I just stick with my 64mpg lol
