  • Like that I'm 100% sure it will leak.

  • So just about to kick off the 2016 camping season. Cleaned the camper up this morning, bloody hard work but doesn't look too bad.

  • Just to show that it's not all slapped together. Things are being run nice and neatly behind the panels. Takes a little more time but worth it. P clips and conduit used. Plus rubber edging trim on a

Thanks :)

The plan is to get the sides finished then the roof. Floor in then we can use it and build the units as I go along. Just throw our camping gear in the back and we are mobile. :)

Trimmed the top rail so when the window is in and I've made the top panel it all looks tidy.

Back quarters to do next I think. Simple enough just big panels.

Great progress B)

Will I get a sneaky peak on Monday?!

Had a morning up the unit. Aside from the doors all the sides are now made and installed. All speakers working :).

Bit more time tomorrow to crack on with the doors. Lights are here so I can get the roof panels finished :)

Looks very tidy.

Thanks mate. It's getting there, it's come out pretty well. I'm my own worst critic though.

But that's how you get the best end product B)

I'm slowly listening to the wife though who keeps reminding me it's just a van that we can go away in for long weekends etc. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Looking good.

Wish I had the time and skills to do a van conversion, because finding a good base vehicle would be fairly easy for me.

Sadly, I am lacking the skill and the time! :(

Great progress Ross. I may have missed it but are you planning on fitting a bed etc?

  • Author

Yes it will have a bed. See the two recesses in the side panels, join them up side to side ;)

One trip to Wickes and a Leon load of ply.

This was a real suck it and see job, had a rough idea of what I was going to do. That got turned on it's head when the ply they had in Wickes was slightly to narrow. I could have bought larger sheets but that meant more cutting and wastage so I adapted.

Some spacing sections in between.

Boards made up. Just need to take them down, fit the lights, trim them and pop them back up. Might look a bit odd at the moment but I have a plan. I was going for a smooth roof but I quite like the idea of a few ridges to break it up. Should look good when I'm done.

I don't know about "camping" mate, looks like you are going for 5 star luxury here! :-) really does look like you are doing a cracking job, can't wait to see it finished.
