VCDS Information.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just bought a Skoda Octavia vRS yesterday and hoping to pick it up very soon.  My questions are about the VCDS systems.  What can I change on my car with this and what do people recommend doing?  My car is on an 08 plate so will be the MK2 from what I know.  I have added a picker just in case.

Many thanks

Tom Spence.

Plug it it and have a look.

Not that all the shown options actually work... (e.g. Wing mirror dipping on reverse).

It depends what modules are fitted on the car. On my L&K Wing mirror dipping on reverse works.

The L&K has electric seats and mirror dipping was only an option with those from factory.

I doubt the OP's Vrs has electric seats. If not, the option is probably there for mirror dipping but activating it won't do anything.

It also seems the mirror has a special memory motor, which I think is also required for reverse mirror dipping.

That's my understanding too for dip on reverse.

Correct. These were only fitted along with the electric seats which the Ves doesn't have as standard (and I'm not sure whether they were an option or not, but I've not seen a Vrs with them).

My point was that even once the OP plugs his VCDS cable in there may well be some options showing that he is not actually able to activate.

I used dipping mirrors as an example because it was the first to come to mind, is often discussed and is one that I remembered looking at when I got VCDS.

Wow thanks for the replies people.  My next question is does anyone know someone in my area who can use this system well?  I know there is a list but the replies I have had are that they are not sure about it and I don't really want to go poking around with it lol :-)

What area are you in?

If you are near Hereford I'll happily show you what I know, but I'm no expert.
