4g hey.....

hmm a reliable 2G signal would be nice

Any signal would be great.....:(

I think there's a big place in Cheltenham that has excellent comms. Are you sure they're not blocking your signal? Have you upset anyone?

so Im gonna hang fire ringing Sky for a couple more weeks and see how things go...

what I would like to know is why different checkers give different results and which is the most reliable?

For example just been on broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk  and got 32mg download and 8 upload which I would be happy with.

but is it correct? broadbandspeedtest.net gave 10meg download moments after.

then back to broadbandspeedchecker and it went up to 31meg again

I also have an iphone app called speedtest which only gives wireless readings (obviously) and this says 15meg download

so just done broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk back to back with wire and without....

with ethernet 31meg and without 15meg

do you really lose 15meg by going wireless?

And would it be worth getting one of those plug in things that sends the broadband through your power sockets?

I would think that if you can get 31 mb download then that will be a truer indication of your fibres true speed. It wont care how you distribute that speed around the house ie using wifi etc

Really! What network are you on? I'm with three and I get a decent 3G signal all the time.

I'm with Vodafone. Used to be with o2,and before that t mobile. Vodafone is the best of the lot but 2g is variable in doors. My personal (ie not work) phone is on 3 and is slightly worse.
