Liquid bird-mess remover

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend some of this?

I regularly suffer multiple splats.

I have some foam stuff, but the wind often blows it away before it can get to work.

Many thanks.

Mike.

Water.   Wash is good enough to remove reasonably fresh droppings.

I'm afraid its not always `fresh`, which is why I'm looking for some `chemical` assistance.

Thanks anyway

Regards

Mike.

I can recommend Demon Shine Rapid Dirt Shifter, for me it's a great pre-wash, cheap and readily available.  In my experience it doesn't degrade your LSP either.

Spray on, leave for a few minutes but not so long it dries and rinse off, then shampoo.  I find doing this loosens bird bombs loads and if they don't come off in the rinse, they should be a doddle when you shampoo.  Ideally don't leave them on too long otherwise they will eat into your clearcoat.

Obviously you can't just spray and wipe, it needs rinsing, but given the caustic nature of bird poo I'm not sure I would trust this method regardless of product especially when dried on.

For fresh ones a good waterless wash and wax can be an option provided you are respectful of how it should be used, giving it time to sit before wiping, and always using a clean side of a mf cloth, otherwise these will lead to swirls.

Car shampoo :D

The only thing in my arsenal I can think might be good for this is my tree sap & bug remover.

Water (and shampoo) seconded.

If it's dried on, for me pre-treating is a must otherwise you will be working hard dry bird muck into your paintwork, probably with a bit too much force and will more than likely introduce swirls into the paint. One of the main source of these on cars is bad wash technique. The very best techniques for washing try to make the process as close to touch less as possible.

Most will know this, some won't, for those that do - apologies for stating the obvious.

I would use APC or Demon Shine dirt Shifter as well

BUT

If the stuff is fresh, soapy warm water is enough

Hi, Chris.

I have Bilt Hamber Surfex HD in the garage. I suppose I'd need to dilute it quite a bit to avoid removing my LSP (Col` 845)?

Regards

Mike.

Not much will degrade Collinite....but just a wipe over the clean area with some more is all you need

+1 to that, Collie's 845 is a bugger to intentionally remove, let alone by accident.

tougher than 476S?

For me one is paste, one is liquid, both outstanding.

476S will last longer with care, from my own experience 845 seems to stand up a little better to poor care regime aka SWMBO's Yaris.

Yes...It is the most durable in the range

845 is a high temperature resistant wax too, it's called "insulator". Not sure 476s has the same properties.

I just get a wad of kitchen towel and soak it in water before applying it to the offending poo.  Leave it for a few minutes to soak and simply wipe away.  There should be no need to scrape or scratch any dried on bits if you leave it to soak for long enough and it won't  affect your LSP.

Cheaper than other products, too!!

I use kitchen roll well soaked in TFR if its caked on. leave it to soak for a while and it normally just wipes off 1st time. the tfr will strip the wax though so you'd need to reapply some after.

Slight degradation...but not total removal of the LSP

TFR's degrade less than you may think ...but as said its always worth applying some more LSP afterwards
