fabia vrs belt intervals

Featured Replies

I bought a 06 fabia vrs about 2 month ago

Car had 56 1/2 thousand roughly.

Now coming close to 60k I was wondering if I am right in thinking that the toothed belt is a posh name for the timing belt .

Let me know if im wrong

Ive worked out that the car was new in march 06

Anyway looking through the service history the car had this replaced along with the tensioning pulley in december 2011 at 44.442 miles

So was replaced 5year intead of 4 as reccomended . I can only this may be due to the low mileage done by previous owner .

Would the belt need changing now or would it be ok

Hi, I've never owned a vRS but have always tended to work on the 60k/4 year rule in respect of my Skodas.

Based on what you've verified I would say no not at the present time, but do make doubly sure it has been done. In your case I would again fit a kit at somewhere around 90 to 95k or prior to 2016, whichever comes first. If the water pump drives from the belt best to also renew at the same time. :)
