On the way to buy me a mkII octy vrs

Featured Replies

On the 4 hour train journey to Wales to look at and hopefully buy a 57 plate octy vrs oil burner.

It's going to be my first skoda or VAG car for that matter. Really hoping it's not a nail like the last I looked at

Good luck. Check all the important details and walk away if your not happy.

So how did it go....(saying like an excited teenager) :giggle:

Just got home with it. Unfortunately when I got there it was pouring with rain so it was hard to get a good idea of the bodywork. Stopped at the services on the way home and it looks pretty good for 6 yrs old and 96k. Turns out he was briskoda member.

The only thing I did notice on the way back was when I opened it up the auto head lights come and would not go off even though it was bright sunshine

Don't worry about the auto lights, if it is parked in bright direct sunshine then the sensor can be fooled and turn them on. They will go off after the allotted time, if you have the maxidot display then you will be able to turn on/off the feature and the time they stay on, otherwise you'll have to find a friendly local with a VCDS programme on their laptop.

BTW thats intentional with the auto lights, called highway mode. If you do about 94mph (naughty but lets face it it happens) for more than a few seconds the dipped beams come on and wont go off until youve been below something like 50mph for 3 or 4 mins. Probably useful in germany on the autobahns, here in the uk just an indication that youve been speeding haha

That explains it. I was into 3 figures when they came on :)

Should be OK if its a brisky member.  It would have been both looked after and given a work out every now and again. Best of both worlds.  Find yourself a decent VW specialist with the proper diagnostics.
