Any trick needed to remove rear caliper?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I thought I do I a little cleanup at the rear brakes of our 2011 Fabia. During winter there is salt on the streets where I live for about 6 month and from experience that tends to make the rear brake pads stick in the caliper guides (at least on our Octavia it does frequently).

Took a quick look at the Fabia brakes today and noticed that the brake hose above the hub seem short and (I could not see it sufficiently without taking the wheel of) it seems that the cable for the hand brake running under the hub might have to be disconnected.

Is that right and is there somewhere a "how-to"? I did a search but it did not bring up what I needed.

Thanks in advance.

I too, am interested as I have to replace the pads. I also purchased discs for the job but will keep them for next time if the fitted ones are up to the job still.

I have had the calipers and disks out now for cleaning and guide lubricating. Was fairly easy to see how to do it when I first had the wheels of. The brake hose runs above the hub and the hand brake cable below the hub. Therefore the cable needs to be detached from the caliper, which is not the case on our Octavia.
