Miltec exhaust any good that's cat bk

Featured Replies

Just wondering which exhaust is best as cheap as poss but ok quality. ( on a budget ) or if anyone has a second hand one must be in good condition thanks . Octavia vrs mk1

Wouldnt touch miltech mate. So many members keep having to get them fixed.

Also tgese off the shelf ones like miltech, piper and blueflame all hang low on the rear back box which I didnt want. I went for a custom built one.

Think piper are one of thw cheapest tho. Better quality than the miltech I think

Got a milltek on mine fits perfectly, have had to get backbox replaced due to a weld cracking, but apart from that it's a good system :)

Jetex are probably one of the cheapest followed by Piper, Magnex etc.

I had a Milltek which cracked the back box, unusually for me I couldn't find the reciept (A4 folder with every penny spent on history since new), and the company I bought it from has gone out of business, Milltek didn't want to know :wall: .

I took it to Forge Motorsport (2 miles from where I lived) to get it welded but no joy because the metal was so thin.

Now got a single box Jetex system (supplied by Forge), much better fit and quality, coupled with a Jetex 200 cell sports cat gives a nice burble at idle, doesn't drone at m/way speeds (70mph of course!) and not much louder than standard up to 4000rpm, then it changes note and becomes a type of roar .

Had the same issue twice with milltek now, going to the factory in derby soon to find out what the cause is!

Once I find out I'll be pushing milltek to offer a recall or a retrospective mod to owners who get the same problem!

I think the backbox on the milltek needs more support braces like the rear end of the backbox....

Needless to say I won't get another milltek,it'll be pipewerx for me next time ;-)

I purchased my Milltek Sports Cat / Downpipe second hand and that had to be sent back to Milltek because the Flexi was cracked :(

I have a secondhand milltek on mine,

Had to fit modified heavy duty bushs to stop it sagging at back, took some work to line up right but might have been slightly bent before i got it.

Seems better quality than the jetex i had on my volvo as it rusted like mad

did have a proflow on mine before but was not quite right and weld's were breaking so got a powerflow with also the current bore 2.5inch.  soo much better did cost about 350pounds but with the choice of how loud you want it what tailpipe you want can't complain and hopefully at the end of the month will get a sports cat fitted which will cost about 240pounds.

piper and your sorted, fits best looks best sounds best.

jetex is crap ignore phil hes on drugs ;)

Never been a fan of Miltek tbh, always thought they were over priced, and know of several cars that were loosing power with 1 of there "performance" exhaust fitted, oh and other than welds failing due to the thin metal, there the only stainless exhausts I know of that rusts.

I have a piper on my vrs, and it flows well, fits great (although it does hang a touch low, but I think thats the cheap **** aftermarket exhaust rubber thats the problem).

I'm booked in at the milltek factory on oct 11th....they've already said they'll replace the backbox!

I'll let you know what else I can sort out! ;-)

With the milltek the weak link is the backbox, everything else about is good, have the downpipe and sports cat aswell and again no issues, also when the backbox broke it was replaced with another within a week so can't really complain about service
