New to this forum, having just bought an 03 octavia vrs estate. I owned a mk 1 hatch years ago, and remembered it as the car I never should have sold so decided to come back to the brand when I needed a sensible car.

Couple of questions- the car automatically locks itself when I drive off. The manual doesn't seem to suggest you can disable this(it annoys me). Google suggests that a dealer can disable- is this true?

It's lacking a spare wheel. Any suggestions of where to get one?

Also, one of the keys doesn't work. Am I being stupid, or is it impossible to open it and put a new battery in?

Finally, the boot lid seems a bit reluctant to open/close. The trim inside seems to be a bit loose, any ideas how to rectify?

First impressions seem as I remembered- comfy, tidy handling, huge and surprisingly economical.

Someone has enabled anti hijack locking. You need VCDS/Vagcom to disable it.

Spare wheel from eBay or check the classified section of this form.

If you have a flip key it does come apart to replace the battery. Google it to find instructions or check your owners handbook.

You can disable the anti hijack with a free program and a ebay vagcom cable you can also activate full closure for the windows using this program. Only catch is it czech but easy enough to translate on google
