Not a happy bunny :(

Just took my whole intercooler system off, every pipe caked in oil literally dropped out lol!

Just getting to the turbo now, I'll post a picture later. All the underneath is covered in oil. All the way down the exhaust! Looks a right mess.

Also I have a decat anyway so that's helpful lol.

Bit of a bummer.

Also without sounding silly. How do I find what turbo I need or engine code and that stuff! Need to get searching tonight for a new turbo!

I think the hardware (FMIC, Blueflame, Turbo and a split hose) came to about £1800 and the bill from Shark was around £900 (including labour for fitting the lot, full service, new gaskets, seals and a purposely conservative custom & incredibly smooth map).

It does come to a significant amount when you add it all up, but the difference in the car was worth it without a doubt. Safe, reliable power; nothing pushed anywhere near it's limit.

Good luck mate, hope you get what you're after.

**** me, did a proper job of that turbo!

I've just paid £1225 for my PD150 turbo to be made hybrid, fitted and mapped. Adding £200 which the PD150 turbo cost to start with and the total is £1425. Not bad really.

Had my work done by Dirty Torque like Joe :)

Cheers mate. Haven't really got that kind of money to play with so will have to find another way. :)

Also, is a pd150 turbo just a straight bolt on?

What do you mean? Just clocking to the same milage?

Good job... if you're going to shag a turbo, do it properly!

Suppose someones got too!

Also guys, anyone used AET turbos?! and help would be great!

My friend/mechanic uses AET turbo's and swears by them, pretty sure that Techie1 has also said they are good but happy to be corrected.

Clocking a turbo is just rotating it to fit.

Cheers mate, may just have to use AET, do you reckon they send out a PD150 for a Pd130?

And ahhh okay, so just moving it around so it fits how a standard one would? Is that hard to do?

I think they will send you what you order, they're a business and I can only assume they will assume you have done your homework and have purchased the right one?!

Yeah that's about the sum of it. Not done it myself TBH but having read other posts about putting a PD150 turbo on a PD130 car, it seems fairly straight forward... hopefully someone with some actual experience of doing this can confirm :giggle:

Okay cheers mate, looks like getting a recon PD150 would be better, i can always hybrid it later, just saves spending money on a PD130 when i want to gain more power anyway!

And cool hopefully someone can confirm,

Also, silly question but how do i find my engine code, and what code does he PD150 need to be?!

Thanks

Exactly!

Your engine code is on a sticker in the boot under the carpet and on the registration documents.

As for the pd150, they come from a MK4 golf which is an "ARL" engine code.

Does it matter that the engine codes are different from the PD130 to a PD150?

No not at all, just make sure you get the turbo part number/code and post it on here to be sure before you buy if you are unsure.

Gt1749vb is the pd150 code from the golf arl.

Cheers

Just got off the phone from AET Turbos.

They said the part number was what a standard PD150 turbo one was.

Pricing came too,

£438.00 + VAT - For a PD150 with uprated internals, bearings and things i think he said,

£338.00 + VAT For a standard PD150,

These prices are both with my old turbo in exchange.

Did you tell them you have a kkk pd130 not a garret? Seems a really good price if thats for your kkk in exchange. Get the 150 hybrid and that will see you around 220-230 with the correct mods.

Jesus that does seem a very good deal but as Joe has said, best check that price with the KKK in exchange.

If it is correct, please update the thread as in sure others would jump at the chance at that price I would have thought!

Sorry to hijack but is there a way of checking (without removing the turbo) what model it is?

What do you mean, checking the turbo on your car or on a golf etc?

Sorry I mean are all vRS running KKK turbo's or did they change them when they moved to a BLT engine?

No change, all vrs fabias run kkk turbos from factory.
