ironX

Featured Replies

Howdy all, thinking if getting some ironx, seen that you can get the1ltr economy refil for only a little more that the 500ml. Would I be ok to put this in any spray bottle or is the one it comes in 'special'?

I bought a 5 litre pot, and refill the original IronX type spray bottle.

i was just been cheap and trying to avoid buying the iron x spray bottle in the first place, so i could just get the 1ltr refill.  Wheres the best place to get it from?

Iirc www.cleanyourcar.co.uk have good prices, and they have a loyalty points system if you get hooked :)

I went there first but I don't recall them stocking any kind of iron / fallout remover like IronX / Iron out. :)

they defiantly have it now, ill probably order off them as they also sell C2v3, which by chance does anyone know how many applications youd get out of the 100ml bottle of C2V3?

Hi Thisday. Iron-X should be used with a chemical resistant spray head as the Iron-X will eat through the metal parts over time and you'll get through a few spray heads that way.

In regards to 100ml of C2v3, you'd get through about 50ml by applying it neat to the vehicle, then dilute the remainder at 3:1 or 4:1 with water (the purer the longer it will last as the C2v3 will start to bond with any impurities in the water over time, most supermarkets sell de-ironised water at about £1.00 for a litre and you should get eight months life out of it) and use it as a top up once a month or so as Quick Detailer or as a drying aid post wash.

Thanks for the tips svend. I blame you for me spending money though! The pics I've seen of your beautifully shiny car made me jealous!

I tried some Dragons Breath as a cheaper alternative and then ordered the 5l bottle as it was so good. You could always ask for a spray bottle to be sent with your purchase?

BTW I got mine from Ebay.

They have stocked it for as long as I can remember Jason

ah fair enough - maybe I was just after a 5 litre tub when I was on the last hunt and 1 litre seems their biggest.  Have never been disappointed with a CYC order before.  My first choice for looking and usually a nice touch when I get a quid off or something from a previous order.

I ended up ordering the 1ltr refil off cyc, will just pick up aspray bottle from somewhere, but not fill it completely. Got a 5% discount code for them

To prolong the life of a regular spray head. Either take the head off after use and run run some water through it and replace or at least turn the bottle upside down and pull the trigger few times to drain the tube and spray head of product.

Stupidly I forgot my own advice earlier today and went to use the paint cleanser and the trigger jammed, luckily I found another spray head and as luck would turn out was a chemical resistant head.

Yeh, that was my plan.

How do you tell if its chemical resistant head /where is the best place to get one?

Another nice benefit of the replacement spray heads is that they tend to come with lots of adjustment of the spray from fine mist to heavy. With some products this can make a big difference in the success of application. I've had a couple of the manufacturer supplied spray heads go on bottles of IronX and TRiX so worth having spares around.

Grey tends to be chemical resistent

The standard head likes to **** up too mine, the trigger always seems to get seized up and I have to manually pull it out, gets tedious after a while doing an entire car lol
