400hp Volvo T5 around the ring

Someone said to me that a 400hp Volvo would hammer a Porsche GT3.

What do you think ?

Probably...I'd imagine the Volvo to be much lighter..

The Porsche is gaining at a rate of 3 seconds / min (ish) - so i would say the volvo ain't a million miles away. From that first bridge [near the new pits] to the last carousel te Volvo manages a 8:18 approx and the Porsche does a 7:46.

Great to watch the porsches though !

As with any track driving it's not a fair comparison without the same driver.

The safe money's always on the Porsche though - best supercar ever made.

Just downloaded & watched the GT3 vid.

Bloody hell, them Porsche's are quick. Not only that, but the braking & handling are fantastic!

Yeah, it looked a bit of a handfull the way the driver was fighting with the wheel.

Couldn't believe though how well in control the guy was - and the acceleration was relentless !

I also heard somewhere (I think it was Jensen Button) that a car on road tyres is faster if you slide it more round corners, but with slicks you do not want to slide. I always believed less sliding = faster.....(unless driving myself on the road of course )

Its easy to get a new T5 to 310 bhp by just a remap, the S60 R can be taken to 350 IIRC with just a remap also.

I used to have a RICA'd Volvo T5 that was meant to be over 300hp. Very brisk indeed, although i am not sure a s60R can hit 350hp.........

To get to 400hp is a bit more difficult though, but as you can see, once there it is quite a bit of kit !
