Which VCDS kit to buy?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, looking to treat myself this month to a VCDS, used to work in a Skoda dealer and still own an Octavia II rs, would like to pick one up to still have the VAG diagnostics capability, but also to help in keeping my own car ship shape. Perhaps the odd retrofit too ;)

Basically wondering what the experienced or rookie VCDS users have, what their thoughts are, and which one to buy. Have a great knowledge of ODIS and VAS-PC so I should cope with the slight change relatively easily.

Also, do we have many group buys for the VCDS cables on here?

Cheers guys, Dale

Never seen a group buy on here myself.

I would say get a HEX -USB+CAN interface......although you can use a Micro CAN interface with an Octavia 2, the full cable allows you to use it on a lot more models of VAG cars.

I bought my cable from Marshalls industrial as it comes in a nice case from them, but you can buy them from any of the official distributors listed on the Ross Tech website and they are much the same price where ever you buy it.

There have been group buys on other forums in the past, the saving has been around a tenner IIRC so not such a hardship to buy independently.

As booke23 said, I also have a Marshalls kit, can't recommend their service enough in my opinion.

Gendan and Ilexa are also UK dealers for Ross Tech, there is a list on their website.
