Hi, I was wondering can anyone help me get to the bottom of this problem, Ive reset this code more times but aftera day or so its back on, Firstly The engine light came on a few months ago it gave me this fault front bank to lean , since then ive changed the maf, ive changed the petrol filter, ive changed the front lambda sensor, ive tried cleaning the trottle bodies by spraying carbeurettor cleaner into them. The car is driving fine most of the time , its idling up and down always under a 1000revs but it does sound a bit rough. Once or twice its lost power completely and then i wait a second or i change gear and the car takes off again, Ive put injector cleaner in aswell and ive put new bolts into the secondary air pump, someone told me to check my pcv valve but im not sure what to look for or is it easily replaced. Could this be down to bad coils and should i change them first?? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Terry

I had this problem a few months ago. Mine was a faulty maf sensor. It was only 3 years old. However since yours has been changed try looking at the boost hoses and breathers. The common ones are the intercooler to intake or the turbo hose at the back. Other common ones are under the manifold. After this it could be fuel issues. Fuel pump injectors and fuel pressure regulator ( not sure how to check this ). Start with the hoses first though it the easiest thing to do. Keep us posted how you get on

Thanks lads ill do that tuesday and ill let you know how I get on. My brother thought it was the injector failing but he wasn't'too sure. Is there anyway of checking if there faulty or does it just have to get progressively worse. Im hopin its a pipe as injectors are expensive

Trouble is if you have air leaks in the breather system, the ecu will compensate for this and run the system richer, which could easily be taken as an injector fault, when actually the car is just swamped in too much air

Yeah I agree. Start with all turbo and vacuum hoses they are very common problems now these cars are getting on a bit. How many miles has your car done? Maf sensors are loads of bother too.

A guess here from what you said.

Fuel pump or possibly temp sensor.

Do you have vcds or just a generic code reader?

Sorry lads never got a chance to check it today .Will do it as soon as I can. It's hard to find anyone over in ireland who knows about these engines. I think its a standard reader in the garage. Theres only 100,000 miles on the car.

Hi lads checked the vac pipes today they all seem fine. I noticed a slight air leak coming from the exhaust looks like the gasket between the engine and the exhaust is ripped. I ordered a new one could that be the cause of the fault.

Cars fixed, the exhaust had a broken gasket and a vacuum pipe from the front of the car was split.
