PO299 low boost,car won't start

Featured Replies

Recently bought my skoda octavia 1.6 TDI DSG.

Car did have a noise , sounding like a injector rattle , but not codes came up.

There was a hissing noise from the engine , smoke test was done and no problems there.

Replaced copper washers on 2 of the 4 injectors. Then 2 weeks later

car lost power whilst driving and OBD reader was showing PO299 low turbo boost.

Car was recovered  as car trying to start but wont. Car was taken to a garage and live data is showing that cam timer and crank is not matching but cam belt and crankshaft seem fine and Cambelt has not jumped.

Could it be camshaft sensor? Or injectors stopping the car from starting?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Is there a warranty with this car?  if so, I'd seriously consider rejection.

Glow plug sign showing and OBD is showing low pressure fuel , does the fuel.pump need replacing or can it be injectors?

We really need a proper VCDS or ODBeleven scan of the car. Low fuel pressure could be a multitude of issues. Not likely to be injectors although depending on the mileage (120k miles plus) they should be done. Replace with OEM parts. Check the fuel pressure on VCDS/ODBeleven first and see if it's a pump or pressure regulator issue.

it was checked on VAG ODIS by mechanic. low pressure fuel was coming up.

car is 2018 1.6 currently 174k mileage done has been regularly serviced.

i believe injectors have not been changed prior.

I genuinely hope these were proper VAG parts (as non-genuine parts could potentially cause you problems).  You can get devices to test the injectors and measure the pressure as well.

So, if that's not the issue, then its going to be fuel pump or fuel regulator.  At your mileage, I would also check the fuel lines, make sure they aren't rusted or leaking (again, would cause low pressure issues).

What problems do you imagine a non VAG repackaged copper washer will cause?

Absolutely none at all.  I think we were talking about injectors and low fuel pressure. OP stated that copper washers were replaced on 2 of 4 cylinders.  I am trying to state that using non-genuine parts (associated with thinking like injectors) means there is an extra gamble and we haven't ascertained this fact yet.  As we don't yet have a full-scan, a lot of these are purely suggestions.

Original VAG washers used.

Injectors we're inspected today by diesel injection specialists and confirmed particles found and will be fuel pump, they have advised to replace fuel pump and clean rail and injector pipes and replace fuel filter and cleaning lines to tank and will need to inspect tank for particles.

Thanks for the explanation, the only parts that I could see through reading that had been replaced were the copper washers.
