Delivery times - build to dealer & delivery

Featured Replies

It seams that there is a large variation in the time it takes from a car being built to delivery to the dealer. My car has currently been sitting at emden since Thursday last week (9 days) I assume this is normal, and am expecting that I will have to wait a similar time once it arrives at the uk port? Would be good to know who else had their car built the same week as mine and how long their dealer has said shipping will take?

My car was a week 37 build, was told by the dealer on Tuesday the car was due in this week but surprise, surprise no phone call to say it had arrived.Going by other threads 3 weeks from build to dealers is a good estimate.

Chased up my dealer on 21st Sept and they said Week Build 39 (the current week just ending) with estimated arrival at the dealers of one third the way through October. Coming from Grimsby.

Spoke to them again yesterday and they confirmed that car had just left the factory. Estimated arrival time at dealers = 2 weeks .... "fingers crossed".

Sounded a tad optimistic to me but won't be complaining if its correct.

Stumbled across another forum last week (not a patch on this one !) and there was a guy on there who said his office overlooked Emden docks. He was saying two specific ships (forget their names now) make several journeys back and forth each day, carrying several hundred cars and with rapid turnaround at each port.

In a few weeks you'll be having a whale of a time driving your motor around and the wait will seem like a distant memory !! :)

Mine was ordered 6th July, estimated delivery date 6th September.

Told it was to be built in week 37.

Believe it set off from Emden on 20th-21st Sept, same as Leckman's I think.

Perhaps unloaded at Grimsby last Sunday 22nd.

Delivered to dealer Friday 27th Sept

Might visit the dealer today, Sunday 29th..

Delivered Monday 30th Sept.

Hope to report Father & Mother doing well, latest addition weighing in at a cherubic 865kg.

Well, still no wiser on when I will be picking up my Sport, looks like another phone call to the dealer for an update. In nearly 10 weeks not one phone call, email or

text to keep me updated.I look at my order form now and again just to remind me that I actually have a car on order.Sorry to be so negative I just feel so p****d off at the moment.

I feel for you mate. When they ask you to leave them good feedback with Skoda - which they will, tell them you wont and then why and see what their reaction is! They will be gutted and might give you some freebies to "buy" you off (still give them bad feedback though!).

Hopefully I'll get a call this week asking me to arrange collection!

Can understand your frustration. My dealer has updated me occasionally but only as a result of my enquiry. Basically they are reactive rather than proactive. Would imagine it's similar for alot of people.

On the plus side, from one Liverpool fan to another, good to see our team back on song today but that's for another forum.

Thankfully LFC are playing a better game than the Skoda dealer!.

Hallelujah!! my car arrived at the dealers this afternoon,am picking it up 10-30 on Thursday,Yippee!.Have just arranged the 7 day insurance.

Well had the call today to pick my number plate and should receive the documents to sign tomorrow. Just waiting on the transport company to tell the dealer when they will be delivering it! So far has taken 15 days from build to landing in the UK! Come on skoda pull your finger out! :)

Asked the dealer to screw the number plates to the car instead of using the double sided tape-you would think I was asking for a free car!,'Oh I don't know about that I can only ask' in the end I said just go with the sticky tape then.Quick enough to take the money off you.

Mine are fixed on properly with little matching covers (white, yellow, black) over the screws. Only cheapskates use the tape!

Ironically , I'm sure the tape is actually more expensive!

Well, yes, the tape may be dearer than the screws...but the screws will take longer to fix....and just a little bit of "proper" work involved!

I take it the 15 days are from the end of build not from start of build. In other words it's taken 15 days for it to be shipped.

My dealer last year said expect a shipping time of around 21 days once built. I was quoted 12 weeks total from order date to delivery date, it was more or less spot on to the day.

What are they quoting now on a factory order with options added?

Yes 15 days from leaving the factory. Was told about 12 weeks from ordering and that will be about right

Well at least you have a car to get around in whilst waiting!!
