Just a quick question peeps..

 

I've been looking at getting a new exhaust system and after many hours of research I've decided to go for a piper turbo-back, however I'm undecided on whether to go for the silencer or not as I can't really gauge the volume from watching videos..

 

So to anyone running a piper turbo-back silencer or no silencer, whats the volume like compared to the stock system..? 

I've got a turbo back WITH silencer, much louder, deeper and has a distinctive whistle when it gets going too. It's personal preference I guess, I dont like the whole no silencer setup, to me it just sounds broken (like my brothers GSXR with no exhaust, he thinks it's great though)

I have a full Piper system turbo back with no silencers. However, I'm using it with a hybrid PD150 also - doubt a standard turbo would sound massively different though.

 

Personally I absolutely love it! I've been told by a fair few friends that it's loud whilst driving normally. However, I can't massively hear it sat in the car. My car is a daily and I have some dual-carriageway work on my commute, and at 70mph it doesn't drone at all in my opinion. You can hear it slightly, but it's not loud or intrusive at all.

 

HOWEVER, when the noise does change is the moment it comes on boost! If I put my foot down from low revs in 2nd gear, the second it comes on boost it virtually doubles in volume!! Sounds like an absolute animal and can no doubt be heard from a loooong way away!

 

I'd recommend going out in one before making a decision, as it seems to be a love or hate noise for most... 

I'm running a UNIT18 adapted MK1 fabia turbo back system on my Roomster, one silencer.

Sounds good to me but not overboard.

I have the 0 silencer cat back, when I was running a standard turbo it wasn't that much louder than standard, with a little owl noise. Now I'm running a pd160 it is noticeably louder and louder owl noise. Does sound good tho, would recommend.

I am currently running the 0 silencer setup, but also have the silencer as well.

I love both to be honest. the zero silencer is much louder on boost, it sounds like a spitfire. Which is incredible. It's not subtle though. Cruising is fine though, with very little increased cabin noise.

Good post Charlie, I actually like the sound of it in your video, you run a 150 turbo too? Its a shame it's so loud on the mater though, 87db limit in Bedford :(

Jesus that's loud with the 0 silencer! You really must like it to live with it I guess! A bit to in your face for me I think

Sorry to bump an old topic but I've know got my piper tubo-back 0 silencer fitted, and chuffed to bits with it. Although I'm getting a strange high pitch whistle/chattering sound while its on tickover, it sounds like its reverberating from the rear section of the exhaust.. 

 

Has anyone else had this/know what may be causing it..?

Sounds exactly like mine when I had a turbo back system with no silencers. I loved the noise but the high pitch whistle is what made me get rid!

Dark hero what mods do you have that looked really rapid coming out of the roundabout! Especially for a diesel too (always feel faster than they look)

He has a Hybrid PD130 turbo & supporting mods! It goes very well!
