possibly buying skoda superb 2009cr 140bhp

Featured Replies

Hey guys possibly buying a 2009 140bhp cr

are these the ones that suffer the pump failure

No; that was the PD engine, so no worries. Very happy with my 2.0 CR.

A 2009 Superb still uses a PD (the CR was not introduced until around March 2010), it is however a deferent 140PD than what is fitted to the MKI Superb… there is however (at least) one member on here that has had oil pump failure in a 140PD MKII Superb.

Ok so from whats being said its a pd engine in a 2009? I was sure the vendor said it was a 140cr version

but either way it should be ok ?

Gizmo confirmed that there has been an oil pump failure reported on a PD140 fitted to a MkII.

So if it concerns you then I'd recommend looking for a CR or confirming that the one you are looking at is a CR.

or confirming that the one you are looking at is a CR.

I test drove MKII Superb’s in May 2010, I really wanted to try the 140CR engine but couldn’t as they were too new (in the Superb) and NO local dealers had one or could get one in.

So I had to drive a 140CR Yeti and a 170CR Superb…. then ordered a 170!

Cheers for that guys so how does that engine hold up?

Well here is the thread I referred to before,

According to the info in that thread the BMP oil pump is driven from the balancer shaft, this is where the problem lies.

There have only been one or two references of 140PD oil pump faliures in the MKII Superb, unfortunately those who report issues usually dissapear from Briskoda pretty quickly, so the info is sketchy at best.

In summary you probably will be OK, BUT if it was my money I would go for a CR instead.

The car has 56000 and is comming with 1 year warranty.. dont no weather to go ahead with it or not.. but only thing is it seemed to be more common on the older superbs

Is there any way of identifying during a service if this shaft getting worn? And is it easily replaced

Think im gona look for a superb with cr

From a quick look online Wikipedia them engines were produced before 2010

Don't touch it buddy I've seen this happen many times now, 2x to the same Mk 1 Superb 2.0PD and the Passat up to 2009 is rife with it, normal fail time is around 70k but can also extend to 120k if you are "lucky"

How to tell?

Open the bonnet and the engine covers give the game away,

Look at the moulding on it of fake manifold branches (the raised bits)

I I I I is a PD 140

I I I I with small squares at the bottom of the I I I is a PD 170

/ / / / is the CR, look at the green car in this video, that is the engine cover you need
