Skoda 1203 (aka TAZ 1500)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

just about to acquire a reasonably good nick Skoda 1203.  They were also built as the TAZ 1500 (Trnavske Automobilove Zavody) during the Czechoslovak period and for a few years after Czechoslovakia divided into Czech Republic and Slovakia.

I've never seen one in the UK...ever!!! I live in Slovakia, where there is a small number and they are becoming rarer and rarer :)  Here's one I'm due to see this weekend...priced and 550EUR with MOT and around 66000KM on the clock from new.  What do you reckon?  I've also found some 1960s renovated wheels, which I'd like to put on.

The plan is to restore the car including a full respray and use it as a promotional van for my company.  I'd like to give it a modern retro look (hence the wheels), but other than that I have no idea...

If you guys have any cool ideas let me know...I need load of inspiration!

(just a side note...if anyone else wanted one...I live and work in Slovakia and the UK and I have a car-transporter and could buy/deliver one to the UK...though I have no idea as to what paperwork you'd need to register it over here in the UK)

Opinions please! :)

I want to see more of the Estelle with the wheels on! But yeah the van would look great with those on as long as they fit ok. The front arches appear to partially cover the wheels so could cause problems when turning.

I might have to widen the arches...will see when I bring it back with me.  I'd show you more of the Estelle, but those are the only images I have I'm afraid...got them from the guy I'm buying them off.

Stock or custom - 1960s vans are way cooler than today's giant door wedges.
