EPC and brake lights

Featured Replies

the EPC light came on this morning and checked the brake light and they wernt coming on. rang garage 2 book it in and just got in car to take it and thought i'd check again, pressed the pedel quite hard and now there fine, knocked engine off and back on and the EPC light has gone. I'll keep a eye on it and if it happens again i'll take it in. Heard its a common fault?

Probably your switch under the brake pedal is loose or broken.

Hi

yes this is very common.

They will come on and off quite regulaly now.

It is worth getting this done ASAP as it WILL go again.

Sorry , but if the car is out of warranty it is still a cheap part.

But check with the dealer to see if this part has been put on to a 5 year warranty cover.

Very common. They will find 16955 DTC if it is this.....

This happened to my mates Corsa and he decided he wouldn't pay for a new switch, and went running round scrappers. In the meantime he wired a household light switch to the light and flicked it on and off when he was stopping. This is a stupid idea. So get it fixed ASAP!

(and yes this was kinda fun with tailgaiters on the motorway, but still very very stupid)
