rear brake disc size

Featured Replies

hi all, sorry for this but could do with some clarification.

My octy is 2008 looking to replace rear disc, europarts sates several sizes, i've narrowed it down to two size, 282 and 286mm

Spoke to a parts store today and they said look for TRW on the calliper, this apparently dictates which size the disc should be.

Mine does has TRW on the calliper, but I am not sure which size this no relates too.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

thanks

Easiest method is to measure the discs with a tape measure, then you will definatly get right size.

Pretty sure all MK2 vRS's pre and post FL have 286mm rear solid discs.

well spoke to another supplier today and the confirmed that is TRW is on caliper the size is 272! i blindly ordered those but measure today the best i could without taking the disc off and I reckon its 286.

What a faff!

Sorted for anyone who searches.

From what I have learned TRW on the caliper = 282mm disc.

Apparently 08 whas a change in supplier year hence the confusion of size.

Measuring the disc with a tape without taking them off is effin hard, the difference between 282 and 286mm you can't tell with the rust flakes around the edges. But cheers anyways :)

My caliper says Bosch on it and I am on 272mm discs. Just ordered some from amazon of all places. Mine is a 2011 VRS DSG CR 170.
