Key Fob Trick

Featured Replies

Found by accident last night that if the unlock button is pressed and held, it winds the window down. If lock button is pressed and held it does the window up! Neat little feature.

not really a trick if it tells you in the manual, is it

Haven't read the manual in that much detail.....guess it's common knowledge then.

 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,;)

It's been a VW thing since the MkII Golf...

Even work on poverty spec VW Group cars without a remote... Turn to unlock and 'hold' opens the windows, Turn to lock and 'hold' closes the windows!  B)

The other 'Trick' (on not in the manual) is if you're just out of range on the remote, hold it under your chin and press the button!!

Did this to a guy at work who'd just got a brand new Passat with the 'power boot' feature, got him to open his boot normally, as he was out of range it didn't work, held it under his chin... et voila... his boot opened for him... trouble was, we were on the 3rd floor and it was raining!!

Useful feature on hot days. I can put the windows down from my desk at work to air it before getting in.

works doing it with the key in the door aswell

Come back to my car a few times to find front windows down, doors unlocked

Mine not the only car on here prone either and not nice when the weathers bad

Stupid feature IMHO

Yeah I came out one morning after a night of heavy rain to find mine down took 2 days to dry !!

Mine did it the other day, after I returned from a trip with just me driving and needed to unlock the back doors.  Plipped, plipped again and the windows droped, but the back doors remained locked.

I've also found that the boot doesn't like opening sometimes, if you've only unlocked the driver's door for a journey.  I end up having to use the boot release button on the remote.

Previous Fabia ( 2003 ) did that.

Dealer cured it - at a £££price.

Was water getting into nearside front door 'elephant's trunk' where electric cable goes.

Yes that can be a pain, if you have the system set so that you need two clicks to open all the doors. I have often clicked only once and had to wrestle with the boot!.

Having read many times that people go to their car, only to find the windows partly down or the doors unlocked. I wonder how many keep their keys in their pockets. I've done it many a time and found I was operating the car doors inadvertently from my lounge just by sitting or bending!!. :wall:

Like Horkin, I am also irritated by the 'double press' needed to unlock the car.  Am I right in thinking that I've read that this can be reprogrammed?  I would much prefer the car to fully unlock on one press.  Is this something that I can do or does it require computer input from the dealer?

You need to go to a dealer or see if there is someone near you with VCDS who can do it for you.

Does anyone know what spec models have the lock/unlock windows up/ down feature? Tried this in my 2010 fabia 1.4 pd td 'level 2' with no joy.. It is because it doesn't have this feature or is ot programmable on vcds?

It may need to be activated with VCDS.

My advice would be to get the door lock convenience windows DISABLED.

It's a security weak point especially on anything VAG pre 2005
