Fabia 2 1.4tdi egr vacuum pipe

Featured Replies

Hi there,

After taking the plastic top cover off of the engine on my 1.4tdi I noticed that the pipe that is connected to the egr valve is worn and need replacing.

I think it has been worn by the plastic cover.

So my question is can this be replaced by it self or do I need to replace the whole connector it's connected to ,vw say that the only way you can do it.

What sort of effect can having a hole in the vacuum pipe have on the egr valve?

Also while I am here,I was wondering if you could tell me what this is please?

Just out of interest please.

All help appreciated thanks dazz

Can't help with the top one but the bottom picture is the oil filter

Oh I see ,first time I have had a car with that sort of oil filter.

Thanks dazz

cartridge filter where you only replace the internal filter, unlike the older canister filter  where you spin the entire filter off

cartridge filters are more messy to change though

short term for the vacuum pipe I would first of all tape it up with several layers of insulation tape to seal it  and protect it in the short term

longer have a look and see if the thick pipe is just protection over the thinner pipe

I had a look and the bigger pipe is protection ,but it has gone into the in pipe as well.

I have ordered some 4mm silicon pipe to replace it,I find it crazy vw only supply the whole thing with connection block.

I think I will take the lip off the plastic engine cover and hopefully stop it happening again.

Thanks dazz
