Black Plastic Plug underneath Mirror

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it's possible to obtain just the black plastic plug that sits on the underside of the mirror housings?

I recently had the offside mirror on my Fabia II 1.6 Sport get stuck, which prevented me from folding it inwards. I suppose out of the possibilities of which position it could have been stuck, this was the best. I then noticed that the black plastic plug on the underside of the mirror housing was missing, but still present on the nearside. My conclusion from this, was that the mirror housing beacme stuck with all the winter muck and grime getting inside. When I put the car into my dealer for its 50k mile service, they managed to get it unstuck, but after over 2 months, they are still unable to advise if they can obtain this item.

It seems so trivial, but surely it's possible to get this item? Any ideas?

They cant supply the motor for the mirrors either, supposedly. If you have the part number, it might be ok. Try taking out the righty, fit it on the left. If it works, it may have the part number inprinted on it. If not fitting, but numbered, ask someone else to read you the left side number.

I have often noticed dealers only supply parts if they have the number, so they can often supply the smallest thing with the part number, otherwise they will quote you for a whole part. (Mirror, in this case, at about £70, without glass and top cap)!

Perhaps someone here will have a spare part, if they have ever had a broken mirror replaced. A few quid for them, a new plug for you.

BTW< Someone here fitted puddle lights to their car and drilled the whole into thiese plugs so perhaps they knew they could obtain the replacements if the project failed?

32kofdata fitted them to his fabia sport. I have bought the LEDs to do the mod on my Roomster.

I'd happily pay someone a few quid for the plug  -   something that I assume a dealer would charge more for, assuming that they can even obtain or identify the part. My local Skoda dealer knows exactly the part I require (as you'd expect, after de-sticking the mirror housing), but they've just gone silent over the past couple of months, despite a reminder. I've been pleased with the dealer in all other respects though, it's just that I'd rather them just say that they can't obtain it (which I'd admittedly find odd), or even that it's proving a challenge  -  but instead, just silence.

If anyone has this part, feel free to let me know.

Dealers often say you cant get what they cant find... Find the part number, they will then have no problem. Otherwise, a trip to the breakers and offer them the money. Ask for a smashed mirror, even. There is a mirror on ebay at the moment for 25 quid but thats a bit much for just a plug.

By the way removing those plugs is very easy so why don't you find someone with a Fabia and check their mirrors. A Roomster will do to.

The left and right have different shapes and different number. the left is:- 10402 and the right is;- 10403.

Have a try ordering them from your local and perhaps a different dealer. If you end up with a spare, they are not gonna be very expensive but one dealer may be quicker/more helpful then the other! Hope this helps.
