Retro Fit Facelift Front End

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have done  search but couldnt find much,

I owned a 57 octavia vrs before, but had to downgrade to a fabia vrs, and within the next few months I will hopefully be back in a Octi.

What I would love to know, is if anybody has done a retro fit of the front end to a 2011/12 spec, it looks the same fit, so new wings, bonnet, lights, bumper, possible slam panel, hinges, but I can't see why it would not be possible.

I know the cost might out weight the whole point of just buying a 2012 model, but for me it seems worth while as parts will total 500 - 750 roughly collecting off eBay, and I would buy a lightly damaged car which inturn would need a front end anyway.

any advise would be great, especially if theres a guide!

Its been done by Stamsaas - I seem to remember him saying it'd have been cheaper to just get a FL.

Totally agree if you was starting from a fresh car, but one needing a front end wouldn't make any difference, maybe a few hundred. Found his thread but its not an actual step by step   but at least I know it is possible.

Also the wiring for the headlamps etc are totally different and will need coding after too.

Coding shouldn't be an issue, I have got vcds, anybody got any diagrams?

Time to start collecting parts

I did see that thread, but its not an actual guide

Stamsaas did the fitting from Pre-FL to FL. If i understand you correctly, you are going to retrofit FL VRS bits to FL model based on your first post? For retrofitting full FL forntend to Pre-FL, things get a little bit complacated as you have to completely rebuilt the wiring to the headlights and DRL's and you'll also have to change the control module for the lights...

Dainott did a rebuild a while back, rebuilt a written off police car.

Yes thats exactly what I want to do, i will most likley purchase a light front end damaged vrs, so the parts are neither here or there on the price.

Its just the coding etc, just need to know were I stand on modules, light switches etc so I can start getting the parts over time in preparation
