Furby VRS econ

Hello,

To all those who own a Furby vrs, what MPG are you averaging? If you drive like a saint most times but sometimes a real sinner, lead footed.

Alex. :P

Seems to end up as 52.7 mpg almost whatever I do (after 18000 vRS miles). Can go up to 61 when my halo really glows.

Cool dude, have you driven an octy vrs? and if so you thoughts of a comparison?

alex

Theres quite a few threads on the MPG people get in there Fabia vRS's...

I'm just coming up to my first 1000 miles in my Octy vRS, and so far I only seem to be getting about 25mpg.

Maybe I'll calm down a bit.

No really long runs yet though - think that would help to push it up a bit!

whats the ride quality like on the octy vrs? I'm going to buy either an octy or the furby VRS's next week and so far the furby is winning.

John, Xenon's are they any good? Better Vis?

I seem to regularly get an average of between 60-65mpg on my trip to work in a morning which is driving carefully at a steady speed on a dual carrige way. Just done a trip to Whitby early one morning loaded with 4 people and sea fishing gear and managed to keep the average at around 54mpg up the A1 at a reasonably quick speed.

My fuel economy seemes to gradually be improving as I get a few more miles on the car, its now just done 10K.

Have you driven either? :D Everyone wants different things from a car so you might find one suits you better than the other....

Chris

I'm getting 44.1mpg over the last 2k miles

I get on average 44-47mpg between fill ups with mixed driving but I'm expecting this to improve as it's only done 2.5k miles

Alex_A - if economy is what you're after I'll say my bit.... I get 45+MPG from my 1.8T Octy regularly as my average between fills. I once saw over 50 as an average for a single trip.

However, if you whoosh everywhere you can expect to get an average of around 27.

I'll be lucky to get over 45 mpg in this weather (about 300 miles per week, but a lot of stop-start driving).

On a long run (say couple of hundred miles non-stop) on motorways and A roads, that'll go up to 50+.

But never anywhere near the economy quoted in the brochure. Or quoted by some of the folk on here - but they're probably better drivers for it! ;)

Only had the car since May, so haven't had the opportunity to do any night time driving as such yet. The couple of times I have had them on they do appear to give a lot more visablility.

My commute to work takes me on unlit motorway, in winter its an absolute nightmare when its pi$$ing it down, that's the reason I wanted them. If I didn't have that commute I probably wouldn't have bothered and just upgraded the standard bulbs with some more powerful ones.

Getting about 51mpg over the last 3.5k miles. Seems to get worse in the hot weather, earlier in the week I was getting 46mpg on my trips to work when I usually get about 51 or 52. Driving style was the same.

It seriously depends a lot. If you go very fast ;) it can go to below 25 mpg average (not in this country of course ;)) However most trips at a fair cruising speed motorway wise it will do high 30s, lower 40s mpg wise.

Backroads and the likes tend to allow for much higher mpg than that, 60 mpg quite possible, but that's at much lower speed (blind bends & the likes, villages with 30mph zones).

Thing is I do 500+ miles/week and it's going up towards nearly 700/week now.

Hot weather makes it a LOT worse. Which is why I want an FMIC as I'm fed up doing 10mpg less whenever it's hot... It's even more pronounced when making progress..

:)

I've had my Fabia Vrs for a month now, it's done nearly 2K. I luckily recieved it only 9 days after placing an order! MPG wise if i drive like a Grandad/Grandma i can get about 55mpg, if i can't resist it's charms and put my foot down it dips to mid 40's.

Lot depends of traffic lights though. If you're standing for a long time you can see the MPG reading dip down rapidly. All part of the government's conspiracy to choke traffic movement and makes us buy more fuel i guess.....

i normally get between 40 and 50 mpg. the other day coming back from work i got 70 mpg!!!

Lately I've been gettin about 360-380 to a tank which is shocking!!! Normal cool/cold weather I'd see about 480-490 to a tank

FMIC here I come lol

I seriously thing FMIC is starting to look like it's gonna be worth it for the summer months. Not quite sure how many miles you'd need to drive to 'earn it back' but let's say it's an extra 100 miles a tank. Say that's 40 quid a month for me - I'd earn it back in 3..4 years.

Not the most cost effective, even at the miles I'm doing. However it will smoke less, perform consistently throughout the year, and will allow that remap with a good starting point to cope with the extra heat created by the increased boost :D

I like that way of thinking lots!

The heat really does kill the economy and performance, its a real down side to the whole car imo. :thumbdwn:

Now how will I be able to afford one? ;)

I get between 35-40mpg at best. At the mo, after a good thrash last night, its showing 29mpg average. Fmic is inevitable me thinks.

Fook! If mine went below about 45 I'd cry... Admitedly I don't thrash the balls of it
