VRS and rear mud flaps

Featured Replies

So picked up the new Octy this morning to which I have had a set of front mud flaps fitted, but when doing the walk round I noted that there were no rear ones fitted. I had asumed these would be fitted as standard as;

They are standard on the S model and up

In accessories only the fronts can be purchased as the rears are standard fit

So looking around the dealers they have a VRS estate in the showroom with no mud flaps and an SE hatch with them.

Going around the car park they have another Elegance demo and three brand new estates with their wrappers still on. The Elegance and two of the new estates which are non VRS all have rear mud flaps, the VRS doesn't.

So, those of you who currently have your VRS, do you have rear mud flaps?

The dealer is going to contact retail support tomorrow and I will probably contact Skoda UK for an answer, as right now the car looks a little silly with the fronts on and no rears :(

Other than, enjoying the car so far, even made the ACC triggger (at very slow speed).

historically all VRS' have had different shaped bumpers so havent officially supported rear mudflaps.

You could fit them on the mkii by heating them to shape with a bucket of hot water but dont think that has been tried yet on the mkiii

Personally ill be fitting the fronts only as I found my old VRS looked odd with backs on as well.

So to answer your question, no rear mudlflaps fitted is standard on the octy VRS. Technically they should have made this distinction in the brochure but you know what theyre like with brochure inaccuracies!

Understatement of the year so far.

Hi Jerry.

Nice to meet you this morning. Hope you had a great few hours with the new car.

I noticed the mudflaps and it's something I hadn't considered until now. Not sure I'd fit rears though. For me looks a bit messy on what is essentially quite a minimalist car.

Nice to see the front grill radar in the flesh as well.

James

I forgot to ask;

Did the lifeshine come with the clear paint protectors in front of the rear arches?

Thankfully mine doesn't have any mudflaps, they look dreadful!

Jerry,

As above it's a continuing theme..... Are the fronts on the mkIII rounded or square and are the rears on the others that do have them the same. If they are you should be able to order them as OE, rather than accessories plus they should be loads cheaper if its the same picture as with the mkII as (IIRC) Fubar found this out for the mkII and distibuted the parts number to order.

As above again the mkIIs rears didn't fit exactly, but mine look fine (sorry Neoly03!) there's just a slight gap at the back of the flap where its formed to fit the rear wing/bumper but its plastic so will fit .... ish ;)
