Fabia 1.4 MPI Rad, leak, no fans.

Featured Replies

Ok car has been overheating and losing fluid for a while. Reaches mid temp pretty quick then will stay there for a while. But without a decent amount of air it will overheat after 10 mins....such as traffic etc.

Have flushed the system and doesn't seem to be oil in the coolant. However I did notice a while ago that I have never seen or heard the fans working. I found a leak in the hose from the top radiator to the engine.

So the question is, Would this puncture be likely to be a symptom or the problem. I read about the thermostat messing up and causing problems...something about not opening. Obviously the fans not working so a problem there too. Is this deterioration or perhaps from too much pressure?

If the radiator fan is not working I'd suspect the radiator fan thermoswitch which is in the lower right-hand side of the radiator (looking from front of car). Also check fuses, connections and fan motor.
