Which bulbs for "door" lights?

Featured Replies

FL Octy - what bulbs do I need for the door lights? I've got one out.

Also, do the lights just "pry" out - so give them a bit of a tug, or is there a screw anywhere holding things in?

Thanks.

The door lights are a push fit. They do require a little force to prise them out. Carefully use a small flat screw driver or a plastic trim removal tool and prise one side out away from the door card. Once this side is out you can the prise out the other side.

As for the bulb it is a festoon type bulb not sure if it is 39mm or 42mm.

I've just put 39mm LED festoons in mine, which is a pre-facelift - I can't imagine they'd have changed greatly of the facelift

Thanks kindly.

*Edit*

I've read in the past - on these forums if I remember, that someone had issues with the lights "flickering" when they attempted to use LED bulbs for the interior.

Am I just imagining this? Or is there an issue with certain LED bulbs? I'm assuming the Canbus doesn't monitor these particular lights.

I think there is an issue with some bulbs. The LEDs that previous owner had fitted to my pre fl interior lights used to stay on the whole time just extremely dim when on the door open setting was selected changed bulbs for different ones and rectified problem.

No monitoring of the interior lights is done.

The issue is as above. Normal LEDs glow dimly due to the lower resistance.

I bought the 'canbus friendly' type. They have built in resistors so they don't glow.

Did that to mine also and they didn't glow. Resistor ones are better :)

I have also found they seem to last much longer than the non-resistor type.

Yes they did Phil mine were over 3 years old before I got rid of the car. I took them all out and put in the Citigo before I p/x it :)
