Honest opinion on this car please.......

Featured Replies

Audi A5 convertible. Fully loaded 3.0 tdi Quattro, automatic with 30k on the clock.

Thinking of chopping my Focus RS in for one. Will be needed for family use on weekends with a ten year old and 5 year old in the back.....

Am I being daft?

It's got the potential to land you with big bills, make sure it's got a good warranty.

A diesel convertible.

Lol. Not made my mind up by any means buddy. I'm on my 4th mk2 RS in 3 years though. Everytime I get rid for something else I regret it and end up back in another.........

Of course you're daft. You don't need two kids in the back  :giggle:

I'll leave this hear and let you decide.

Diesels are cool and they are getting there in terms of petrol sound and performance (with a bit of help)

I'd have one in a heart beat! I imagine they're expensive to maintain and service though.

I thought you loved the RS.

If you go for an Audi diesel convertible won't you tire of the trademark Audi handling and long for the Ford?

Yes, it's quick.  But it'll understeer and it's auto.  Not exactly a driver's car IMO.

Drove an S5 and it was nothing special.

But if you just want to cruise around and impress the neighbours it's perfect. :)

My mate has the coupe a5 3.0l tdi sline

Go for that!

As said a diesel convertible is proper naff

My mate has the 3.0TDI Quattro setup in a B8 A4 Avant. Its a cracking car but vs an RS?

I'd say the RS is pretty much the ultimate hot hatch so it retains its usefulness for lugging kids etc around.

The A5 is just a big lump for wafting around in.

Depends what you want out of a car?!

Don't swap sports for slops. You'll never, EVER forgive yourself. And I despise Ford.

Love my Audis but they are a million miles away from being dynamic.

I shudder just thinking what the tyres and the road tax would cost. Expensive cars aren't cheaper if they break.

Hmmm. Thanks for the opinions so far guys. Food for thought.

I guess part of my thinking to get the A5 is that the RS seems to be getting chosen to drive on a weekend less and less for many reasons. I drive our Blackline everyday on a 50 mile round trip work-commute, therefore when it comes to the weekend I don't like putting MORE miles onto it. Economy - i'm not anal about mpg, but at twice the mpg of the RS, our Octavia is often the more sensible choice. The kids have more room in the back of the Skoda, and I love being able to use cruise everywhere (which is handy as 3 new speed camera vans have gone into North Yorkshire and are always around our area)

Perhaps I shouldn't worry about racking the miles up on the Blackline and just use it more on a weekend without feeling guilty. Keep the Focus for more special days out..........
