Which pressure washer?

Featured Replies

Howdy,

I've got around £100 to spend on getting a new pressure washer. While I see alot of karcher models I hear their build quality has dropped some what.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Nilfisk is the general consensus. I have one and it is fine. Superior to a Karcher as I think the Nilfisk has an aluminium pump.

Have a look on karcher outlet. Can drop on some bargains

Make sure you go for water cooled motors for durability.

+1 ...

+2 for nilfisk. Also make sure you run it dry (stop it as soon as no more water comes out the gun) after each wash in winter if your storing it somewhere thats not frost free otherwise you may need a new one quicker than you thought!

+1 for the Karcher Outlet. You can get a good one from as little as £30.99.

Got mine for a great price. The one on the left is two years old and still going cost £24.99 at the time, wet'dry vac (WD2.2) for £29.99 and the washer on the right was £24.99.

Saved £160+ Never had any problems with any of them.

Nilfisk ....nothing else to add

+4 for Nilfisk really good little unit, mine is a c110 I seem to recall.

Yep + 5 for Nilfisk here. Had mine for four years now. We have three cars so I'm amazed it's still going !!! If and when it goes bang I shall replace with another Nilfisk.

Any specific model of nilfisk recommended? I'm a beginner so something that 'will do' and can be used with a snow foam attachment (not sure if they all can) will be good :)

They come in 3 types from compact upwards. It depends as ever on how much you want to spend but make sure you get one with an aluminium body. The models available and details are on nilfisks website. Don't waste money on things like the patio washer but get one with the auto nozzle and allow circa £30 for a proper snowfoam lance off ebay etc as the normal foam lances that come with power washers are rubbish and just give a thin watery covering. When you get it put about 2" of snowfoam in the plastic bottle then top up with hot water to give a good thick foam. You'll probably need to adjust the knob that regulates the air on the top to get the correct thickness ive used ultimate and valet pro snowfoam. The 1st is easier to use and cheaper. The 2nd gives better foam but can seperate into its various components in the 5ltr container so needs a good shake especialky when cold.hth

another tip is try not to drag the hose across your drive when working round your car as it eventually wears the hose away and they are expensuve to replace.

+6 Nilfisk check out Argos, have some good offers from time to time

+7 for nilfisk :)
